Aletta: Frederique Constant was still very much in flux when we arrived in Carouge. We made watches with our own insignia and with those of other labels, and we continued to grow steadily. Peter: After three years there, our premises were again too cramped. So we moved to ChneBourg for 51Ú2 years, where nearly 800 square meters were available for us not far from Rolex. Aletta: We set up an advisory board with Wim van Heijst and Hans van Willige. We also spoke with professional advertising agencies about ways to better evolve our brand. Peter: When the premises at ChneBourg became too small for our needs, we searched throughout geneva for a suitable building. But we couldn't get the one we wanted. I never found out why they turned us down. Aletta: A real estate broker asked us, “Why don't you consider constructing something of your own.” We would then be able to get a plot of land in hereditary leasehold from the foundation for industrial real estate in PlanlesOuates. It would cost only 15 Swiss francs per square meter per year. That's a big help for us from the community and the local government. Peter: Together with an architect, we designed the building to meet our needs: logical, efficient, practical and accessible. We made 48,000 watches each year at that time.
