Aletta: He came to Hong Kong, paid and took the watches with him. We had financed all 300 of them without outside help. Thirty percent were prepaid. Then there was our own money that we had invested. Our budget was scanty, but it sufficed. Peter: Those 300 watches had cost circa 100,000 Hong Kong dollars. The unit price was between 40 and 60 Swiss francs. One mustn't forget that those were quartz watches and their cases were plated with a fivemicronthick layer of gold. These early timepieces were really only a first step into a field of business that was still totally unknown to us.
