How Did You Come Up With That Name?

Book live your passion

Aletta: Every child needs a name, so we often discussed the topic. There were two options: we could follow in the footsteps of Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin, i.e. we could choose a French name that would give us a more luxurious imageÉPeter: … or we could opt for a short and catchy name like “Rolex.” Our family name “Stas” would have sufficed, but an “S” at the beginning and another “S” at the end didn't look pretty and we didn't want to start the business with our family name. Aletta: We began to think about an authentic French name with a history. Our greatgrandparents' middle names occurred to us: “Frederique” came from my family and Peter contributed “Constant”. We were very pleased with the result: “Frederique Constant”. Peter's greatgrandfather Constant had worked for an etching and printing factory that also made dials for Dutch domestic clocks, so there was a real connection there. One of my ancestors was named “Frederique.” The names were waiting for us.
