Have You Ever Regretted Your Decision?

Book live your passion

Aletta: As far as the work is concerned, no. But to be perfectly honest, I did initially regret it from the social point of view. The difficulty of genuinely participating in social life here caused me certain problems. But in the meantime, I'm very happy here. We really feel comfortable. I've changed, and now I'm better able to accept traditional customs. You run a genuine family business. What advantages does that have from the owners' viewpoint? Peter: Aletta and I are responsible for our business. We've cultivated and evolved our idea of “accessible luxury” for the past twenty years. Rather than looking nervously toward the right and the left and allowing competitors to distract us from our chosen path, we've logically and selfconsistently expanded our collection. Aletta: Compared to the big bulldozers, everything runs with a more personal touch. That's obvious in the sales and in collaboration with agents. When a big corporation takes over a watch brand, longstanding contracts are all too often rashly cancelled so the corporation itself can handle distribution. That was good for us because we found good distributors who were open for a new brand. We also feel the advantages at independent specialized dealers because many of them prefer to work with families rather than with big groups that often exert overwhelming pressure. If a jeweler wants to sign a new contract with a strongselling brand or renew an existing agreement with a popular label, he's often compelled to also accept more difficult brands. Furthermore, he's obliged to achieve specified revenue targets. Things are easier and there's more understanding when he collaborates with a family business.
