Creativity isn't limited to simply designing watches that are more beautiful. At Frederique Constant, we are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to make our timepieces better, inside and out. For more than ten years, our company has produced our own calibers inhouse, and Frederique Constant has patented no fewer than five new caliber inventions. A prime example of this kind of creativity can be found in the silicium escapewheel, which we developed in 2007. Silicium is not only considerably more robust than any material used before: it also gives mechanical watches a degree of accuracy never thought possible.(1) In 2008, we went one better by introducing a tourbillon watch with a silicium escapewheel the first of its kind ever made. The independence of producing and using our own calibers sets Frederique Constant apart from other small, familyowned companies.
